Accident Reconstruction and Reconstruction-Grade Scene Evidence
A reconstruction can only be as accurate as the evidence captured at the scene. Delator's personnel have accident reconstruction experience and collect that evidence to the standard an analysis needs.

What reconstruction needs from the field
Reconstructing a collision means working backward from physical evidence to speed, position and sequence. The inputs are specific: the length and curvature of tire marks, the location of gouges and debris, where each vehicle came to rest, how far and in what pattern each vehicle was crushed, the grade and surface of the road, and what each driver could see. If those inputs are not measured before the scene is cleared and the vehicles are repaired, no later analysis can recover them.
Delator Claims Division captures that evidence across Tennessee and, where the assignment calls for it, reports technical findings drawn from it. Personnel have accident reconstruction experience. Where a retaining party has its own reconstruction expert, the field record is delivered in a form that expert can work from, and the expert can direct what is captured.
Reconstruction evidence and support services
Thirteen services, from individual evidence types to collision-specific support.
- Reconstruction-Grade Scene DocumentationReconstruction-grade crash scene documentation across Tennessee: measured evidence, scaled photo sets and field notes a reconstruction analyst can use.
- Scene MeasurementsBaseline and triangulation measurements of Tennessee collision scenes, tied to permanent reference points so the scene can be drawn to scale later.
- Skid-Mark & Tire-Mark DocumentationSkid, yaw and scuff marks identified, measured and photographed with scale across Tennessee before traffic and rain remove them from the pavement.
- Vehicle Positioning & Final RestMeasured final rest positions and headings of vehicles after a Tennessee collision, from on-scene measurement, police paint marks and physical traces.
- Roadway EvidenceDebris fields, gouges, scrapes, fluid trails and fixed-object strikes mapped and measured on Tennessee roadways to record area of impact indicators.
- Intersection & Sightline DocumentationSightlines and view obstructions at Tennessee intersections documented from driver eye height at measured positions, with obstruction dimensions.
- Photogrammetry-Ready PhotographyOverlapping photo sets with scale references and control measurements, captured in Tennessee so a reconstruction expert can extract measurements later.
- Vehicle Crush & Damage ProfileMeasured crush depth, contact and induced damage, paint transfer and restraint condition documented on Tennessee vehicles before repair or salvage disposal.
- Collision Scene PreservationEmergency documentation of Tennessee collision scenes before traffic, weather and cleanup remove tire marks, fluid trails, debris and fixed-object damage.
- Commercial Vehicle Reconstruction SupportTractor-trailer collision documentation in Tennessee: brakes and tires as found, load position, underride contact, and event data sources noted.
- Motorcycle Reconstruction SupportSlide and gouge marks, rider and machine rest positions, lean scrapes and helmet condition documented for motorcycle crash analysis anywhere in Tennessee.
- Pedestrian Collision Reconstruction SupportVehicle contact points, throw and rest location, lighting at the reported hour and crossing geometry documented for pedestrian crash analysis in Tennessee.
- Multi-Vehicle Collision SequenceDamage matching, rest positions and separate impact areas documented across every vehicle in a Tennessee chain-reaction crash so the sequence can be analyzed.
From request to delivered record
- RequestCall dispatch or submit the request form with the location, loss type and urgency.
- DeployDispatch assigns the nearest available licensed field investigator through the statewide network.
- DocumentPhotographs, video, measurements and factual notes are captured once the scene is safe to work.
- PreserveFiles are timestamped, organized and kept in their original form with a record of who captured them.
- ReportThe package is delivered securely to the requesting party, typically the same day.
What Delator does and does not claim
Delator Claims Division is not an engineering firm. Its reconstruction work is performed by experienced personnel using established measurement and documentation methods, and it produces technical findings about what the physical evidence shows. It does not decide who was legally at fault.
Vehicle event data and fleet telematics are held by the vehicle owner or its vendors. Field personnel note what data sources exist and can coordinate retrieval with the party entitled to the data.
Delator personnel have accident reconstruction experience. The work product is physical evidence and technical findings; it does not determine legal fault, which remains with the parties, the court or a jury.
Delator Claims Division is not an engineering firm. Whether any analysis is accepted in a proceeding is decided by the court.
Common questions
Do you perform full accident reconstruction or only scene documentation?
Both are available. Many assignments are evidence capture for an analyst the client has already retained. Where requested, Delator personnel with accident reconstruction experience report technical findings from the evidence.
What credentials do your reconstruction personnel hold?
Delator describes its personnel by their experience rather than by titles. Clients can ask dispatch about the background of the person assigned to their matter.
Will your findings be accepted in court?
That is decided by the court under the rules that apply to the case. Delator prepares its work so the methods and measurements can be explained and checked.
How soon should scene evidence be captured?
As early as possible. Debris is swept and vehicles are moved within hours, and tire marks fade with traffic and weather. An emergency deployment can be requested at any time.
